Uniting Our American Community
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Marshall, Texas, March 13, 2025 — Harrison County Texas America 250 is proud to announce its official licensing of the America250 and Texas America250 branding, solidifying its commitment to celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. As part of this monumental milestone, the Harrison County Texas America 250 Commission is thrilled to unveil "Two Lights For Tomorrow," an upcoming commemorative event scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2025, that serves as a significant prelude to the nationwide celebrations leading up to July 4, 2026.
Two Lights For Tomorrow honors the rich tapestry of America’s history by reflecting on the last 250 years and looking forward to the next 250. Inspired by the midnight ride of Paul Revere on April 18, 1775, the event highlights the enduring themes of courage, unity, and hope. With symbolic lights representing both reflection and aspiration, the event promises to bring the Harrison County community together while echoing the unifying spirit of the Revolution.
To engage with the community and share more about this historic initiative, the Harrison County Texas America 250 Commission invites all residents to attend an open meeting on Thursday, March 20, 2025. The meeting will be held at Marshall Mercantile at 5:30 PM, providing an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the America250 campaign, share ideas, and discover ways to get involved in this significant celebration.
To encourage community attendance and involvement, Harrison County Texas America 250 will be giving away 6 America250 branded T-shirts. The T-shirts will be given ticket holders in a random drawing of all tickets handed out at the meeting on Thursday, March 20. One ticket will be presented to each attendee that brings another person as an attendee. Odds of being a winner will be determined by the number of attendees. There is no purchase necessary.
"We are honored to be part of this momentous journey as we celebrate the values that have united and inspired Americans for generations," said Steven McFarland, President of Harrison County Texas America 250. "Through commemorating events like Two Lights For Tomorrow, we look forward to creating an inclusive and inspiring experience that connects our past, present, and future."
We encourage members of the community to step forward and join us in making this celebration truly memorable. Whether it's volunteering your time, sharing your creative talents, or helping to spread the word, your involvement is vital to the success of our America250 initiatives. Together, we can shine a light on our history and ensure a brighter future for the generations to come.
